1. Who you are dealing with
The Taarof app and taarof.app are provided by Juunam (société à responsabilité limitée simplifiée (SARL-S) under Luxembourg law), RCS Luxembourg B308227, rue des Aubépines 29, L-1145 Luxembourg, Luxembourg ("we"). Contact: hello@taarof.app. By creating an account or using the app you accept these terms.
2. What Taarof does
Taarof lets you keep a private record of food and drink you have tried: a name, optional rating, note and photo, and optionally the place. It names items from barcodes and photos and suggests nearby places. It is a personal tool; it is not advice, and names or places it suggests may be wrong — check before you rely on them, especially for allergies.
3. Age
You must be 16 or older to have an account.
4. Your account
Sign in with Apple or with an email code. Keep your sign-in to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Use the same sign-in each time, otherwise you will have two separate lists. You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which erases it permanently.
5. Your content
Your tastings, notes and photos stay yours and stay private. You give us permission to store and show them back to you, which is all we do with them. Names you type for products, dishes and places go into a catalogue shared with other users (see the next section), so do not type anything there that is private, false, offensive or that you have no right to share.
6. The shared catalogue
Product, dish and place names (with categories and place locations) are shared by all users and combined with data from Open Food Facts and OpenStreetMap, both under the Open Database Licence (ODbL). This catalogue is itself available under ODbL on request to the contact above. Your tastings are never part of it. We may correct or remove catalogue entries that are wrong, duplicated or abusive; the app has a Report button for that.
7. Fair use
Don't use the app to harm others, to break the law, to scrape or overload the service, or to reverse-engineer it. Photo naming is limited to a fair daily number per account.
8. Paid features
Taarof is free. If we introduce paid extras, they will be sold through Apple's in-app purchase under Apple's terms, with the price shown before you buy. Free features will not be taken away from existing users without notice.
9. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the service running but do not promise uninterrupted availability. We may change or stop features; if we stop the service we will give you at least 30 days to export your data. We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app before they apply.
10. Liability
The app is provided as is. To the extent allowed by law we are not liable for indirect losses, lost data or decisions you take based on the app's suggestions. Nothing here limits liability for intent, gross negligence, or where the law does not allow a limit.
11. Governing law
Luxembourg law applies, and Luxembourg courts have jurisdiction, without affecting the rights you have as a consumer in your country of residence. EU consumers may also use the European Commission's online dispute resolution platform.
